Table of contents

In 2025, GC Food reached a significant milestone as its young coconut jelly was officially recognized as a typical rural industrial product of Dong Nai Province. This award reflects the company’s commitment to elevating Vietnamese agricultural products on the global stage. Let’s take a closer look at the award and what this meaningful recognition means for GC Food.

1. What is a typical rural industrial product?

Under Clause 4, Article 2 of Decree No. 45/2012/ND-CP, a typical rural industrial product is defined as products manufactured by rural industrial establishments that demonstrate high quality, strong practical value, and solid potential for production expansion and market growth. To qualify for this recognition, products must meet essential criteria related to technical standards, economic efficiency, and social impact. They are also evaluated based on their use of raw materials, labor resources, and environmental responsibility.

According to Article 2 of Circular No. 26/2014/TT-BCT, the purpose of this title is to honor high-quality products that meet the needs of both domestic and international consumers. These products typically show strong scalability, market expansion potential, and the ability to contribute positively to economic development.

2. GC Food’s journey to achieving this prestigious recognition

The title of the typical rural industrial product of Dong Nai Province 2025 was awarded to three young coconut jelly product lines from G.C Food Joint Stock Company (GC Food). This achievement is the result of more than a decade of continuous investment in advanced technology, standardized production processes, and sustainable development. It reflects GC Food’s long-term commitment to quality and innovation in the food industry.

2.1 Overview of GC Food’s development journey

GC Food was founded in 2011 with the mission of building a “happy food chain” from farm to table. From the very beginning, the company has focused on creating high-quality food products that preserve the natural value of agricultural ingredients.

In 2016, GC Food established Vinacoco Food Joint Stock Company (VINACOCO), specializing in the production of coconut jelly, rice flour, and other starch-based products. The facility spans 11,000 square meters, marking a significant step in expanding the company’s manufacturing capacity and product portfolio.

Vinacoco operates two modern production lines with a total capacity of 30,000 tons of finished products per year. GC Food’s coconut jelly is manufactured through a closed-loop process under strict quality control, standardized in compliance with international certifications such as FSSC 22000, HALAL, and KOSHER. The company also applies advanced pasteurization and sterilization technologies to ensure the highest standards of food safety for consumers.

2.2 GC Food’s award-winning product lines

Three young coconut jelly product lines from Vinacoco, a member of GC Food, were honored: Coconut Flavor, Pineapple Flavor, and Grape Flavor. These products met all three key evaluation criteria set by the organizing committee, including quality, innovation, and sustainable value.

GC Food’s nata de coco is naturally fermented from premium coconut water sourced from Ben Tre and Tra Vinh (now part of Vinh Long Province), Vietnam’s leading coconut-growing regions. Through strictly controlled production, the coconut jelly achieves a light sweetness and crisp texture, making it ideal for beverages, desserts, and other F&B applications. Today, GC Food’s coconut jelly products are exported to 27 countries, including demanding markets such as Japan, South Korea, the United States, and the European Union.
